Prince Charming is Dead…
It’s About Time.

Today’s discovery was a three ring binder with an outline for a book Anita was working on with the title as seen above. Not a ton of writing in this one, but she had put section heading about different topics pertaining to being a woman primary income generator and things that related to that (Children, Money, Stress, Household Chores, etc.)

She printed out some online articles pertaining to some of the topics and those are all dated in May 2006. Here are Anita’s observations as she wrote them:

Children

It is hardest to go back to work after a long weekend with the kids. It takes quite a while to decompress…to move from “lawyer” mode to “mommy” mode. But once you’re there, there’s nothing better. You learn to be on their time, in their rhythm. You start to see the world through their eyes…and it’s great. Things are slower, simpler, more beautiful. We play…we laugh. We skip. We talk. We sing. We dance. It’s enchanting.

EXHAUSTION

But then, it’s the very end of the day. Finally, time for YOUR priorities, YOUR future plans, and yet, there is so little of YOU left to give. You’ve put in your hours of work, you’ve driven miles and miles to and from the “perfect” home for your family, you’ve counseled people at work, you’ve tried to make the firm money by billing hours, you came home, you listened to everyone’s day, you read to the children, you ran out of gas before they did (as usual), you spent 30 minutes in front of the mirror perfecting your marred chin…and now, NOW you’re ready for you. And you’re tired.

What’s left? I’ve got to work on MY future. I’ve got to write, regularly and consistently, every night. I’ve got to read the Wall Street Journal and the Atlanta Journal Constitution so I can figure out what in the world is going on in the world. (Are we about to get bombed buy Iran, or what?) I’ve got to study for the GMAT – I need plans, more than one set of plans, because I don’t know where He wants me so I’ve got to simultaneously be a good steward of what I’ve got, be grateful for what He’s given me, yet still seek to get on purpose and in a right relationship with Him. And last, but not least, I’ve got to talk to Him, I need Him. These days are long. I’m tired.

The very last chapter heading was entitled:

“Death – How to Make Sure Your Husband and Children will be OK if you predecease them.”
