by Ben Schick (3rd grade)
“It’s a girl!” yelled my uncle from downstairs. Man, “I wanted a brother!” I said. Before I got to school my dad called, “I’m sending pictures of her,” he said. After that, I showed Mrs. Fenstermaker, my 1st grade teacher, the pictures. On the bus ride home I couldn’t wait until I got to see her.
“Are you ready to go see her?” asked my dad. “What’s er name,” I asked. Penelope Jane Schick, my dad said. After a while, we got to the hospital. “She is tiny!” I said. She laid their on the bed with my mom. After a while we wanted to get dinner. Penny and my mom weren’t allowed to leave the hospital for 4 days, so me, dad and my sister went to get dinner at On The Border. The next day, my relatives came. My grandpa bought a pink ribbon that said It’s a Girl! My aunt bought doughnuts. Afetr 2 days, we went home. When Penny got in her carseat, she was not happy. Whhaaah! is what she screams for 2 hours! Oh no! This is goign to be a loooong ride!

This is so precious!!!! I can just see Ben’s skeptical face breaking into his signature grin upon seeing little Penny.
