Anita L. Schick died on August 21st, 2009, peacefully in her bed. She wasn’t sick. She was 27 weeks pregnant and in (seemingly) perfect health. To date, no cause is known for her death. She was 37 years old.
Anita’s life revolved around God and her relationships to people. She touched people with her laughter, caring and love. This site hopes to continue her love.
Writing helps me heal, so here I am with a new blog. In addition to continuing Anita’s legacy, I am working through my own feelings by examining who she was – which makes me feel closer to her. This also provides a place to gather information for our three children so they can one day understand better who their mother was.
If you have any feelings, thoughts, memories or stories about Anita, please email me at greg@anitaslove.com – I am collecting these specifically for the children. Some of them I may use on the site. If you prefer not to have your name used on the site or to have your stories shared only with the children, please let me know. But do not let that stop you from sharing with my family the love that Anita gave you.
Thank you.
Greg Schick

Update: January 2010, the coronor finally presented us the report and issued a death certificate. The official cause of death was an enlarged heart with additional conditions being a placental abruption. Since they don’t know if the placenta detatched before or after her heart stopped, they could not say for certain that it was the cause of death. But I say for certain it was because I knew my wife. She had two natural childbirths with no medication by going into a trace-like state during labor. She had a high pain tolerance and, I believe, would have put herself into the same mental trance if she felt a lot of pain (which she did that moring, she told me). I think she was trying to resist the pain of the abruption over a period of several hours until her heart finally gave out.
